PERSONS WANTED.

Queen Street Whare (Auckland). warrant for deserting the s.s. “ Delphic,” G. Hornsby, age about seventeen, height about 5 ft. 5 in., seaman, native of England, stout build, full face, short dark hair, pale complexion, dark eyes.

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). —30th ultimo, on war - rant for deserting the s.s. “ Delphic,” F. Boyle, age about seventeen, height about 5 ft. 6 in., seaman, native of England, thin build, protruding upper lip and teeth, short fair hair, blue eyes, soars on backs of hands.

Auckland. —sth December last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £7 35., balance of fine and costs for sly-grog selling. Mabel Constance Wilkinson, age forty, height 5 ft.

4 in., prostitute, native of New Zealand, medium build, frtsh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, five unper front teeth anificial; wears spectacles. (S ee Police Gazette, 1914, page 46.)

Auckland.—lst instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for tbe support of bis wife, Charles John Henry Mahon, age about fortv, height about 5 ft. 6 in., baker, native of New Zeala'd, strong build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, sandy moustache. Arrears to 12th ultimo, £l2.

Auckland.—2oth of May last, on warrant for theft of a watch-chain and medal, value £3 (recovered), the property of James Burns, 23 Nelson Street, F. James (name probably fictitious), age about twenty.three height about 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., supposed labourer, medium build, fair tanned complexion, brown hair, clean-shaved, pimpled face ; usually dressed in dungaree-trousers, brown coat and blucher boots; dirty appearance.

Auckland.—24th ultimo, on warrant of failing to provide adequate maintenance for his - wife, William Peter Harvey, age twenty-eight, height about 5 ft. 9 in., fruithawker, native of New Zealand, slim build, dark complexion, hair, and eyes, right ring-finger missing ; usually dressed in dark striped suit, green and white jersey, and dark-felt hat; fond of drink. His photograph is filed in the Superintendent’s Office, Auckland. Complainant, Daisey Harvey.

Auckland. —13th August, 1912, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his wife and children, Arthur Buchanan, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of England, stout build, fair hair and complexion, blind in one eye, “A. 8.” .on one forearm. Complainant, Sarah Rebecca Buchanan, Montague Street. (See Police Gazette, 1912, page 473.)

Auckland.—27th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, Walter Jack Love, age twentythree, height 6 ft., cabinetmaker, native of New Zealand, slim huiid, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes. His photograph is filed in the Superintendent’s Office, Auckland. Complainant, Myrtle Clayton, Eden Terrace.

Auckland. —27th May last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Robert Charles Critoph, driver, age twentynine, height 5 ft. 6J in., native of England, strong build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, hazel eyes, nose inclined to left, mole on right breast. Auckland.— 4th May last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £l, balance of fine for theft, Lizzie Parry, cook, age forgone, height 5 ft. 4 in., native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, brown hair, dark eyes. Auckland. —7th April last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of bis illegitimate child, Charles Dunn, labourer, height 5 ft. 9 in., native of New Z* a'and, str< ng build, fresh complexion, round face, black hair, dark eyes. Complainant, Amy Billingham, New Windsor Road, Avondale.

Hamilton. —About 19th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, J. Hammond alias Hackett, shoemaker, age forty-one, height sft. lOfin., native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, fair moustache ; usually dressed in dark suit and soft hat. Accused obtained £9 Bs. from John Rountree, hotelkeeper, by means of a valueless oheque for £lO, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Levin. Te Awamutu. —9th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for fourteen days in default of pacing £1 14s. 6d. fine and costs for theft,. Ernest G&llott, labourer and bootmaker, age thirty-nine, height 5 ft. BJm., native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, grev hair; usually dressed in dark-tweed suit and hard black hat. New Plymouth.— l9th May last, on warrant of commitment to New Plymouth Prison for failing to find security for his obedience to a maintenance order for the support of his unborn illegitimate child, Robert Dean, groc r’s assistant, age twenty-four, height, 5 ft. 10 in., naive of New Zealand, slim build, clean-shaved, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, mole on side of face, front teeth are stopped with gold ; dresses well. His father lives near Granicy.

Manaia.— l3th May last, on warrant of commitment to New Ply mouth Prison for one month for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his mother, William McGarvie, age thirty, height 5 ft. 10 in., teamster and labourer, naiive of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, clean-shaved, dark hair (thin on top), grey or blue eyes; fond of drink ; a prohibited person. Arrears to 25th February, 1914, £ll.

Hastings. —lst April last, on two warrants of commitment to Alexandra Military Detention Wellington, for seven days and fourteen days, respectively, in default of paying £2 fine and costs for breaches of the Defence Act, Thomas Gilhooley, age twenty-one, height sft. 6^in., blacksmith’s striker, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, brown hair, grey eyes ; usually dressed in dark suit and soft-felt hat.

Feilding. —23rd December, 1913, that he may be compelled to pay arrears of maintenance for the support of Mary P. Kinsella, an inmate of Wellington Receiving Home, Francis William Chapman, aae about thirty, height sft. Bin., carpenter, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair and moustache, grey eyes; usually dressed in navy-blue suit and black-felt hat or cap. Inquiry is at the instance of the Education Department, Wellington.

Palmerston North. —22nd May last, on warrant for theft of a money-box containing £5, the property of Andrew Carnegie, Archie Lovell, labourer, age nineteen, height about 5 ft. 6 in., native of New Zealand, thin build, cleanshaved, fair complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, prominent upper teeth ; usually dressed in dark-green woollen suit, dark overcoat, and cap.

Otaki. —2nd instant, that she may be compelled to support her illegitimate son, an inmate of the Weraroa Training Farm, Emma Ethel Rebecca Spackman, domestic, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 5 in., native of New Zealand,

slight build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes. She has a deformed back, showing a large lump near right side. She was last heard of at Martinborough in 1908. Inquiry is at the instance of the Education Department, Wellington.

Otaki. — 29th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, Herbert T. Staig, clerk and engineer, age about forty, height sft. 6in., naiive of Scotland; bloated appearance; fond of drink. Accused obtained £lO from George Tullock, hotelkeeper, by means of three valueless cheques aggregating £lO, drawn on the Bank of Australasia, Otaki. (See Police Gazette, 1913, page 612.)

Masterton. —l7th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide adequate maintenance for his wife and child, David Christopher Thompson, cook, age fifty-two, height about 5 fc. 11 in., native of Scotland, slight build, dark complexion, clean-shaved except small brown moustache, left thumb missing ; shabby appearance ; fond of drink. Complainant, Ellen Thompson, Rodgers Lane, Masterton.

Masterton.— l2th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for seven days in default of paying 12s. fine and costs for taking liquor into a no-license district without notifying the vendor of bis intention to do so, Lous Le Paul, cook, age sixty seven, height 4ft. 10in., native of Jersey, stout build, lair complexion, grey hair and eyes, usually dressed in grey ciothes and soft-felt hat; speaks with a foreign accent.

Wellington.— l7th April last, on two warrants of commitment to Wellington Prison for (1) twenty-four hours in defauir, of paying 12s. fine and costs, and (2) for twentybur hours in default of paying 15s. fine and costs for failing to send his children to school, Jesse Jackson, labourer, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 9 in., i ative of England, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, grey e}es; fond of drink.

Mount Cook (Wellington). —About 2nd May last, on warrant for >hefr. of a gentleman’s oveicoat, value £3 (recovered), Frederick De-Lisle, labourer, age forty, height 5 ft. 5 in., native of Ir land, grey hair and moustache; usnahv dressed in shabby brown suit and cap. Denniston.— Charles Hooper, alias Cockabully, default of fine and costs: Id lias been ascertained by the Denniston police that offender is now in Redfern, New South Wales. (See Police Gazette, 1914, page 36.)

Reefton. breach of the Defence Act may be served upon him, Clifford Elliott, labourer and miner, age abom twentyone, height about 5 ft. 9in., supposed native of New Zealand. dark hair and complexion, slight build, clean-shaved ; usually dressed in blue suit and hard hat or cap ; quiet manner.

Greymouth. —2Bth Februarv last, on warrant of commitment to Nelson Police gaol for seven days in default of paving £1 3s. medical expenses for helpless drunkenness, William Elliott, labourer, age forty-six, height 5 ft. 7in., native of England, strong build, sallow complexion, cleanshaved except moustache, grey hair and eyes, coal-marks on bridge of nose, tips of right thumb, forefinger, middle finger, and ring-finger missing.

Greymouth. —sth April last, on warrant of commitment to Greymouth Prison for ten days in default of paving £1 3s. fine and costs for a breach of the Licensing Act, George Bennett, fireman, age about th’rty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., native of England, thin build, fresh complexion, sandy hair and moustache.

Blackball.— l7fch May last, on warrant for obscene language, Redmond Joseph Condon (known as “Tiger”), miner, age twen y-eigbt, height sft. 7 in., native of Australia, medium build, fresh complexion, fair curly hair, grey eyes. Accused failed to appear in answer to a summons.

Ashburton. —sth ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, Harry Mapletoff, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 6 in., jockev, native of New Zealand, slim build, slightly bow-legged, clean-shaved, round full face, prominent teeth.

Ashburton. —2sth ultimo, on warrant for theft of a gentleman’s black-enamelled B.S.A. bicycle, fixed wheel, transfer No. 247, 24 in. frame, steel rims, niokeled-steel pedals, value £ls (recovered), Smith (name probably fictitious), age about twenty five, height 5 ft. 7 in., cleanshaved, fair hair and complexion, gold-filied tooth in upper jaw.

Owaka.— 24th ultimo, on warrant for failing to make adequate provision for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, John McCullough, labourer or sawmill hand, age twenty-two, height about 5 It. 7 in., native of New Zealand, slim build, pale complexion, chan-shaved, dark hair, brown ejes, large scar on side of neck.
