PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —25th ultimo, that a summons may be served on him for the support of his child in the Auckland Industrial School, Arthur William Fox, age forty, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, grey eyes, long nose. (See Police Gazette, 1911, page 488, and Photographs of Discharged Prisoners, 1911, page 48.)

Auckland.— 18th April last, on warrants of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month and forty-eight hours in default of paying £6 J9s. fine and costs for breaches of his prohibith n order, Michael Malone, age forty-three, height 5 ft. in., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes. He is supposed to have gone to the gumfields. (See Police Gazette, 1911, page 261.)

Auckland. —On or about the 27th ultimo, on warrant for forgery and uttering, Edward Simmonds, age thirty to thirty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., supposed cook, native of

England, strong active build, dark ha r, clean-shaved except heavy dark m ustache, olive complexion ; dressed in dark suit and hard black hat, gol 1 watch-chain (with small gold cross attached). Offender forged the name of G. J. Gar a d to a cheque on the Bmk of New Zealand, Auckland, for £lO 10s., and uttered it to Charles Wi ham Dunmore. Other charges pending. Offender is id ntical with J. Simmonds (see Police Gazette, 1912, page 293), and has a cheque-book in his possession on the Bank of New Zealand, which ha stole from Esnlanad« Hotel, Devonport. Cheque-book numbered D 932105 to D 932155.

Mount Eden (Auckland). —27th Maroh last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paving £2 13s. fine and o sts for a breach of the Def nee Act, Fred Collins, age eighteen, height; 5 ft. 1 in. or 2 in., cabinetmaker, native of Australia, fair hair and complexion, medium build, blue eyes; generally wears grey suit and cap. He is supposed to have gone to Queensland.

Hamilton. —l3th ultimo, on warrants of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying 13s. fine and costs for drunkenness and fourteen days in default of paying £2 10s. costs for breach of Licensing Act, Samuel Orison Marson, age fifty-three, height 5 ft. 8 in., bushman and miner, native of America, strong build, dark complexion, brown hair, dark eyes, clean-shaved except brown moustache ; dressed in dark suit and bard black hat. Supposed to have gone towards Wairoa. Offender paid £2 75., leaving a balance now due of 16s.

Thames. —2Bth ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide bis wife, Alice Mary McN il, with adequate means of support, James Patrick McNeil, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 6 in., miner, native of New Zealand, stout build, blue eyes, fair hair and complexion ; dressed in dark-tweed suit and soft grey hat. Was seen in Auckland on the 4th ultimo. His brother, Harold McNeil, keeps a billiardsaloon at Newton, Auckland.

Te Aroha. —l9th ultimo, that he may be compelled to pay £2 7s. fine and costs for obtaining liquor while prohibited, Robert McQuay, age about fifty-five, height about 5 ft. 7 in., stout build, sallow complexion, native of Ireland, stooped shoulders, grey moustache only, brown hair, grey eyes. His wife and family reside in New Plymouth.

Napier. —lßth March last., on warrant of commitment to Napi<r Prison for fo’ty-eight hours in default of paying £1 ss. fine and costs for drunkenness, Thomas Norton, age forty, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, dark complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, crucifix tattooed on right arm, star on right hand, emblem of Faith, Hope, and Charity, heart, and anchor on left arm; dressed in dark-tweed suit and dark-green felt hat.

Hastings. —l6th April last, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Robert Henry Moore, age thirty, height 5 ft. lin. or 2in., barber, native of New Zealand, thick-set build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, light-brown eyes. Eltham.— l2th January last, on warrant for false pretences on William Moore, hotelkeeper, William James, age forty-eight, height sft. 9 in., blacksmith, strong build, dark complexion, pock-marked, heavy dark moustache, dark hair, one finger missing from right hand ; dressed in blue suit and black herd hat. He is said to have a son in Wellington, a blacksmith. Offender is wanted for a similar offence at Stratford. (See Police Gazette, 1912, page 119.)

Wanganui. —sth ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the futur° maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child. Herbert William Brown, age thirtv-six, height 5 ft. 7 in. or 8 in,, drivpr and labourer, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair (bald on top, scar on bald part), three small scars on face; dressed in bluetweed coat and vest and serge trousers. About seven years ago he was employed at Wellington, driving a mail-van. Complainant, Mary Hutchings.

Palmerston North.— 2s h ultimo, on warrant for dis ob ying an order of Court to pay 7s. 6d. a wpek towards the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Gilbert Banks Stephens, age thirtv-two, height about 5 ft. 7 in., baker, native of England, medium build, brown eyes, dark-brown hair, dark moustache, pale complexion ; dressed in b'ue suit, black lace-up boo% generally wears a grey cap, plain gold ring on third left finger. On the 29th April last he wa 3 £2 16s. in arrears. He has worked in the Masterton and Pahiatua districts, and is known in Auckland.

Wellington.— 6 f h nlt : mo, that a copv of minute of order under the Destitute Persons Act may be served on h ; m, George Williams, age twenty-sev»n, height, 5 ft. 5 in., dtiver, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes. Wellington.— 27 f h ultimo, on warrant for intending to fail to provide his wife, Kathleen Lancelev, with means of support, Henry Newns Lanceley, age thirtv-six, height 5 ft. 4in , fish-dealer, native of England, strong build, pale complexion, brown hair and moustache, bald on top of head ; drpssed in black faded coat, dark trousers, and green cap ; addicted to drink.

Wellington. — John Laurenson. wanted on warrant for default of fin° and costs : It has been ascertained bv Acting Detective Sweenev, Palmerston North police, that offender is identical with John Duncan, convicted and sentenced at the Supreme Court, Palmerston North, on the 27th Mav, 1912 for indecent assault. Nelson.—22nd ultimo, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Orari,” George Brown, age twentv-four, height sft. Bin , trimmer, native cf England, slight foreign accent, dark hair and complexion, clean-shaved, medium build ; dressed in dark-blue suit and cap. A reward of £2 will be paid for bis apprehension.

Christchurch. —Between Ist October last and 25th ultimo, on warrant for theft of £99 13s. Id., the monevs of A. J. White (Limited), furniture-warehousemen, Edward John Stillwell, age fifty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., traveller and collec'or, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion, beavv dark moustache, small sideboards, black hair turning grey, bald on top, brown eyes; dressed in dark-grey suit, black-felt hat, and brown-tweed overcoat. Lyttelton. — Y. Aldwinkel, wanted on warrant for deserting from s.s. “ Ruapehu ” : It has been ascertained by the Auckland police that offender has signed on as a fireman on the s.s. “ Rimutaka,” which left Auckland on the 23rd ultimo for London direct. (See Police Gazette, 1912, pages 66 and 104.)

Oamaru.—22nd April last, on warrant for theft of a rug, the propertv of Robert Percival Henry, value £4, Robert Wallace Ross and George Patterson Descriptions : First, age twenty-one, height about 5 ft. 8 in., plumber, native of New Zealand, slim build, dark hair, sallow complexion, slightly stooped shoulders; larrikin appearance. He served his apprenticeship with a plumber in Filleul Street, Dunedin, and his father is said to be a retired railway man. Second, age seventeen, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, dark hair and complexion, round full face, may be employed at a blacksmith’s shop.

Invercargill. —Bth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Invercargill Prison for two mon«hs in default of paying £lO 10s. fine and costs for procuring liquor while prohibited, John Miller, age forty-nine, height 5 ft. 7 in., compositor, native of Australia, fresh complexion, brown hair and heard turning grey, stout build, full fleshy face ; generally wears brown-tweed suit and hard black hat ; fond of drink. He is supposed to be in Christchurch or Wellington.
