——hO*o»CK— Auckland. —20th September last, on warrant of commitment to Mount Eden Gaol for fourteen days in default of paying £2 11s. fine and costs for theft, Emily Carter, alias O’Mera, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 7 in., native of New Zealand, sallow complexion, brown hair and eyes, very stout build.

Auckland. —2oth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Mount Eden Gaol for forty-eight hours in default of paying 13s. fine and costs for drunkenness, Rudolph Allen, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 8 in., expressman, native of New Zealand, thick-set build, dark complexion, brown hair and eyes.

Auckland. —10th instant, that steps may be taken to recover arrears due for the maintenance of his son in the Burnham Industrial School, Arthur Walter Lewis, age forty-six, height 5 ft. 7 in., cook and steward, native of England, swarthy complexion, large nose, dark hair and eyes, clean-shaved except heavy black moustache. Te Kuiti. —2nd or 3rd instant, on warrant for theft of a horse, value £2O (recovered), property of Taiaroa, farmer, Mokau, Arthur Robinson, alias Percy Robertson, age eighteen, height 5 ft. 3 in., flax-mill hand, native of New Zealand, medium build, slight stoop in shoulders, brown hair, pale complexion, small light-brown eyes, black straight eyebrows, peculiar V-shaped wrinkle in centre of forehead, long nose, large mouth usually open, thick lips, prominent teeth with wide spaces between especially in upper front teeth, slight stammer in speech, weak intellect; dressed in dark clothes. Parents reside at Kawhia.

Mercer. —2oth ultimo, on warrant for obtaining £3 from Peter Mclntyre, storekeeper, by means of a valueless cheque, William or John Hammond, age about twentynine, height 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in., bushman, colonial, medium build, fresh complexion, brown moustache only, brown hair ; dressed in dark suit and black hard hat. Speaks a good deal about the timber trade.

Palmerston North. —4tli September last, on warrant for obtaining a bicycle, value £l7 175., from E. Reynolds by false pretences, John Saunders, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, sallow complexion, pointed features, black moustache curled at ends, dark hair, very staring look ; dressed in fawn-coloured trousers, dark coat and vest, and fawn-coloured felt hat with black band round it. He obtained the bicycle by representing he was a boardinghouse-keeper at Ashhurst.

Woodville. ment to Napier Gaol for twenty-one days in default of paying £5 fine and costs for breaches of a prohibition order, Victor Alphors, age twenty - four, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, ruddy cheeks, small black moustache, large rolling dark eyes, good teeth, rather small features, stooped shoulders, hollow chest, suffers from asthma; dressed in dark suit.

Carterton. Bth instant, on warrant for false pretences on Paul Ernest Debreceny, hotelkeeper, F. W. Neill (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in., medium build, light sandy hair, small ginger moustache only, freckled face, upper teeth rather prominent, thin face, high cheek-bones, medium features; dressed in navy-blue serge suit, hard black felt hat, white sweater and red tie. He was recently employed on Mrs. Cotterell’s farm, Featherston, under the name of Frederick Brooks.

Christchurch.— l3th instant, on warrant for deserting his wife, Jessie Weller, at Christchurch, William Isaac Weller, age twenty - eight, height 5 ft. 11 in., sailor, native of England, fairly stout build, dark complexion, dark hair, brown eyes, small lump at base of left nostril, stoops a little, slightly round-shouldered, walks with rolling gait; dressed in navy-blue suit, cloth cap, and soft shirt. Was employed as seaman on board the s.s. “ Discovery,” on last voyage to the Antarctic.

Christchurch. —6th instant, on warrant for disobeying an order of the Court for the support of his illegitimate child, John Watters, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, round face, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, very small brown moustache only ; may be employed with bricklayers. Christchurch. —3rd or 4th instant, on warrant for breaking and entering the dwelling of James McGuinness, Upper Riccarton, William Knight, alias Barden, alias George Stanton, alias Williams, age twentyeight, height 5 ft. in., labourer, native of Australia, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, sharp nose, scar near the left temple, indistinct tattoo-marks on left arm. Lyttelton. —7th instant, on warrant for deserting the s.s. “ Turakina,” at Lyttelton, Joseph George Hayne, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 6f in., quartermaster, supposed native of New Zealand, brown hair, brown eyes, dark complexion, stout build, short thick neck, clean-shaved, emblem tattooed on right arm, ship, anchor, and wheel on left arm.

Waitati. —loth instant, for escaping from Seacliff Asylum, John Henry Powell, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 5| in., fair complexion and hair, slight fair moustache only, slight build ; dressed in dark-tweed suit and hard black hat. He was committed from Dunedin, and formerly resided at Port Chalmers.
