(See Police Gazette, 1903, page 73.) Auckland. — Harry Williams, charged with forging and uttering an order to John Daisley, has been arrested by Constable J. Mcßae, New Plymouth police, and committed for trial.

Auckland. — Francis Henry Creamer, charged with default of fine for a breach of the Defence Act, has been arrested by Constable M. Doyle, Gisborne police. Fine and costs paid.

Gisborne.— Harry Wiloughby, alias Hopps, is charged on warrant of commitment to Gisborne Gaol for four days in default of paying £1 19s. fine and costs for threatening behaviour. Description : A native of New Zealand, twenty years of age, about 5 ft. 7 in. high, slight build, reddish hair, no hair on face, round shoulders. His father is a hotelkeeper at Queenstown.

New Plymouth.— Arthur Robert Brandon, alias Henry Samuel Currie, is charged on warrant with perjury at the Supreme Court, New Plymouth, on the sth ultimo, in the case Rex v. Smith (murder). Description: A native of Rangiora, New Zealand, labourer and watchmaker, thirty-seven years of age, 5 ft. Bfin. high, swarthy complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes, long nose, both little fingers crooked, anchor (faint) tattooed on left arm, cleanshaved except moustache, hollow cheeks, scraggy appearance. He is supposed to have been in Wellington on the 25th ultimo.

Wanganui. — James Turner is charged on warrant of commitment to Wanganui Gaol for fourteen days in default of paying £6 13s. for a breach of the railway by-laws. Description : A colonial, labourer and groom, about thirty years of age, about 5 ft. 8 in. high, medium build, ruddy complexion, brown hair, fair moustache only, fond of drink; generally wears grey clothes. Was formerly coach-driver between Mangaweka and Taihape. Last seen at Foxton Racecourse on the 23rd January last.

Carterton. — Frederick Lumley indecently assaulted : It has now been ascertained that offender is not identical with the suspect, Thomas Taggart.

Carterton. —William Thompson is charged on warrant of commitment to the Terrace Prison, Wellington, for fourteen days in default of paying £1 ss. fine and costs for obscene language. Description: A native of England, painter, about sixty years of age, 5 ft. 6Jin, high, sallow complexion, grey hair, brown eyes, right arm off at elbow. (See Police Gazette, 1903, page 86.)

Wellington.— P. Ashton is charged on warrant with forging the name of P. Setter to a money telegram, at Carterton, on the 31st ultimo, thereby obtaining £1 from Mrs. Smith, of Palmerston North. Description : About twenty years of age, 5 ft. 4 in. high, very fair hair and complexion, very small fair moustache only, slim build ; dressed in brown sac suit and light-coloured alpine hat; is a jockey or racecourse “ guesser.” Can be identified by Telegraph officials at Carterton. His mother, Mrs. Brown, resides at Pahiatua. Offender may be accompanied by a jockey named F. Williams, who is 5 ft. 6 in. high, medium build, dark hair and complexion ; dressed in light-coloured grey sac suit and darkcoloured alpine hat.

Wellington.— Thomas Jones is charged on warrant of commitment to the Terrace Gaol, Wellington, for seven days in default of paying £1 6s. fine and costs for a breach of the harbour by-laws. Description : A native of Scotland, seaman from s.s. “Tongariro,” twenty-eight years of age, 5 ft. 8 in. high, strong build, ruddy complexion, black hair, dark eyes, round face, generally clean-shaved, sometimes has a small dark moustache; speaks with a Scotch accent.

Wellington. John Smith and Thomas O’Connor, charged with default of fine for stowing away, have been arrested Smith (who was going under the name of John Murray) by Constables D. Carmody and W. Southgate, Blenheim police; tine paid : O’Connor arrested by Sergeantmajor Mason, Blenheim police, for theft and housebreaking, and committed for trial; he was going under the name of Thomas Pearce.

Wellington. —Harold Bay, alias Charles Smith, charged with false pretences on Arthur R. N. Lodder, has been arrested by Constable J. Forster, Foxton police.

Manners Street (Wellington). —Alexander Callaghan, charged with forging and uttering a cheque to the Te Aro House Drapery Company, has been arrested by Constable F. A. Waterman, Mercer police.

Christchurch. — Donald Ferguson (name probably fictitious) is charged on warrant with false pretences on Henry Howard Gaudin, cycle manager, on the 24th ultimo. Description: An engineer, about thirty-three years of age, about 5 ft. 6 in. high, medium build, fair hair and complexion, clean-shaved except fair moustache, full face; dressed in dark clothes and black hard hat. He purchased a bicycle for £ls 18s. 61., and gave a cheque on the Bank of New Zealand for £l6 18s. 6d., which has been returned marked “No account.” The bicycle has been recovered by Detective G. Fitzgerald at Timaru, where it had been sold by offender to the manager of the Massey-Harris Company for £3 and a second-hand bicycle. He was to return for the second-hand bicycle but failed to do so, and is supposed to have left for Dunedin on the 26th ultimo. He has a noticeable cast in one eye. A man of same name was previously agent for Adams’s Star Cycle Company, Christchurch.

Christchurch.— Duncan Fraser is charged on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Gaol for forty-eight hours in default of paying 15s. fine and costs for drunkenness. Description: A shepherd and labourer, forty-seven years of age, 5 ft. 10j§ in. high, slight build, fresh complexion, dark hair turning grey, brown eyes, stoops when walking.

Waimate.— Elizabeth Tomlin is charged on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Gaol for fourteen days in default of paying £2 12s. fine and costs for being found on licensed premises while prohibited. Description: A native of New Zealand, about thirty-eight years of age, 5 ft. 2 in. high, slight build, fair complexion, fair hair, blue eyes. Left Dunedin with her husband, George Tomlin, on the 16th ultimo, supposed going north.

Dunedin. — John Cox is charged on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Gaol for forty-eight hours in default of paying £1 3s. fine and costs for drunkenness. Description : A native of New Zealand, butcher, about twenty-eight years of age, 5 ft. 8 in. high, medium build, fair complexion, fair hair, blue eyes.

Dunedin.— Albert McAuley is charged on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Gaol for twenty-nine hours in default of paying ss. fine and costs for drunkenness. Description : A native of England, boiler-maker, thirty years of age, 5 ft. lOJin. high, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair, grey eyes.

Dunedin. — Alexander Churchman is charged on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Gaol for forty-eight hours in default of paying 13s. fine and costs for drunkenness. Description : A native of Scotland, sailor, twenty-six years of age, 5 ft. 5| in. high, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes.

Dunedin. — Henry McKinley, alias Andrew McKenzie, is charged on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Gaol for ninety-six hours in default of paying £1 3s. fine and costs for drunkenness. Description : A native of Scotland, labourer, sixty-two years of age, 5 ft. 9 in. high, medium build, fair complexion, grey hair, brown eyes.

Owaka.— Montague Herbert Walkem, alias Herbert Watson, is charged on warrant "with forging and uttering, on the 21st ultimo, two cheques for £24 and £22 on the Bank of New Zealand, Balclutha, to Robert Stansfield, storekeeper, Ratanui, purporting to be signed respectively by J. Fleming and 0. Andrews, but have been declared forgeries. Seven blank cheques were stolen from Mr. Geddes’s cheque-book at Owaka, and the above two filled in

and passed. Description: Supposed English, about twentysix years of age, 5 ft. 6in high, light build, sallow complexion, small face, brown hair, light-brown moustache only, upper false set of teeth ; usually dressed in light-brown suit, a pair of buff leggings newly blackened ; has a gentlemanly appearance, plausible manner, and is fond of drink and cigars. Is identical with M. H. Walkem (see Police Gazette 1902, page 208). Offender’s sister is Postmistress at Fortrose, and his father, Henry Walkem, is horse-cover maker for the Tramway Company, Dunedin.

Adelaide.— William Septimus Blanch is wanted at Adelaide for forging and uttering a cheque on the Bank of New South Wales for £l7 15s. with intent to defraud the Independent Order of Foresters, at Adelaide, on the Ist November, 1902. Description: A clerk, about forty years of age, 5 ft. 10 in. high, stout build, fair complexion, brown or sandy moustache curled at ends, light hair turning grey parted in centre, blue eyes and slightly squints, walks erect; wears either a grey or black sac suit, grey Terai or white-straw hat with black band, tan lace-up boots ; fond of drink. He has been a clerk in mining offices, and may seek similar employment under the name of E. White. Arrest desirable ; extradition expenses guaranteed. Photograph filed in Commissioner’s office.
