Auckland.— William Costello is charged on warrant with failing to make provision for the support of his unborn illegitimate child. Description : A native of Auckland, a blacksmith, twenty-six years of age, about 5 ft. 7 in. high, stout, strong build, fair complexion, shaved exoepb moustache ; usually wore dark clothes ; was formerly working for J. -J. Craig. Complainant: Alice Mary Jagger, Customs Street. (99.)
Auckland. — John D. Randall is charged on warrant with being about to leave the colony without making provision for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child. Description: Colonial, a clerk, twenty-seven years of age, 5 ft. 3 in. high, medium build, shaved except heavy black moustache curled at ends, leans to the left side when walking; usually wears light-coloured clothes, and hard light-brown hat. Was employed by Mr. Salmon, butcher, and left on the 2nd instant, saying he was going to visit a sick brother at Dunedin.
Napier.— John O’Connell is charged with disobeying an order of Court for the maintenance of his wife, the sum of £5 beiDg unpaid up to the 15th instant. Description : A native of New Zealand, a blacksmith, twenty-eight years of age, about 5 ft. 9 in. high, athletic build, fresh complexion, clean-shaved but probably will now have a few days’ growth of beard, dark-brown hair; when last seen was wearing a dark-blue suit (back of coat turning green), white-straw hat with black band, and black-canvas shoes. Warrant issued on 23rd instant.

Dannevirke. —John Conrad, charged with disobeying an order of Court, surrendered himself to the Wellington police, and has been remanded to Dannevirke.

Christchurch. William Chamberlain is charged on warrant with failing to make provision for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child. Description : A native of New Zealand, a tailor, twenty-two years of age, 5 ft. 9£ in. high, slight build, fair hair, pale complexion, hazel eyes, fair moustache only or may now be clean-shaved, long thin features, stoops slightly when walking; usually wears a dark-tweed coat and vest, light-tweed trousers, white shirt, and straw or Alpine hat. Complainant, Harriet Ada Summerton, 108, Manchester Street.

Christchurch. Malcolm McKinley, charged with disobeying an order of Court, has been arrested by Constable Whatman, Akaroa police, and lodged in Lyttelton Gaol.
Deserters from Her Majesty’s Service. From H.M.S. "Penguin," at Albany, West Australia. On 23rd December, 1899.
Joe Moorhouse, leading stoker, first-class, twenty-eight years of age, born at Liversidge, near Bradford, 5 ft. 10 in. high, light-brown hair, greenish eyes, fresh complexion, mole on neck and on left side of face, clean-shaved, particularly slow manner of speaking. Frederick Nelson Gordon, stoker, a native of Belfast, Ireland, twenty-four years of age, 5 ft. 5£ in. high, dark-brown hair, grey eyes, fresh complexion, clean-shaved, rather fullchested.
A reward of £3 is offered for the arrest of each
Prom H.M.S. “ Porpoise," at Hobart. On 2nd January, 1900. Arthur James Newnham, domestic, third-class, born at Portsmouth, Hants, twenty-nine years of age, 5 ft. 8 in. high, dark-brown hair, hazel eyes, dark complexion, scar over right eye, and scar on right wrist. Charles Mackson, domestio, second-class, twentyeight years of age, born at Leeds, Yorkshire, 5 ft. 8 in. high, brown hair, grey eyes, sallow complexion, abscess scar on left side of neck. A reward of £3 is offered for the arrest of each of the above deserters.

Henry Jones, deserter from the “Royalist,” has been arrested by Constable A. Skinner, Auckland police, and put on board the “ Tauranga.”

Charles Owen Osborne, deserter from the “ Mildura,” has been arrested by Constable P. F. Carlyon, Featherston police, information leading thereto having been supplied by Constable J. Bree, of Wellington. (00/20.)
