Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
Wairawa. —John Doyle is charged on warrant with failing to comply with the conditions of a maintenance order. Description : Irish, a labourer, about sixty years of age, about sft. 7in. high, medium build, stooped shoulders, sandy complexion, sharp features, short sandy side-whiskers and moustache turning grey, fond of drink. He was served with a summons at Feilding on the 21st ultimo, but left there a few days afterwards.
Wellington. —Charles Henry Grainy is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of Court to pay £1 10s. a week towards the support of his wife and two children. Description : About thirty-six years of age, sft. 9in. high, medium build, pale complexion, brown hair, clean-shaved except fair moustache, grey-blue eyes, wrinkled forehead, two or three cut-marks at back of head, a butcher by trade. The sum of £4 10s. was in arrears on the 10th instant. He is supposed to have left by the s.s. “ Waihora ” for Sydney, or “ Gothic ” for South America.
Kaikoura. —James O’Donnell is charged on warrant with failing to provide for his illegitimate child by Annie E. Sha.rp. Description: A native of Kaikoura, New Zealand, a labourer, twenty-eight years of age, about sft. Bin. high, medium build, very dark hair and moustache. He is supposed to be in Fielding district driving horses.
Christchurch. —Richard John James, otherwise Collier is charged on warrant to apprehend with deserting his child since the 27th ultimo. Description : A native of the colony, a lumper, about twenty-six years of age, about sft. 9in. high, fair complexion, long features, fair moustache, medium build, smart appearance; well known in Lyttelton. He is supposed to have gone to Wellington, accompanied by a prostitute named Harriet Smith.
Lawrence. —William Henry Ross is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of Court, made on the 26th November last, to pay 10s. a week towards the support of his two children. 'Description : A native of the colony, a labourer, criminal appearance, about twenty-two years of age, sft. 6in. or 7in. high, small dark moustache and side whiskers, brown freckled complexion, prominent front teeth, looks down when engaged in conversation; dressed in an old dirty tweed sac suit, and soft black-felt hat. He is supposed to be working on a farm or station in the Clutha district.

Auckland. —Henry Bosser, charged with deserting his two children, has been arrested by Constable Clarke. Charge withdrawn.

Napier. —Arthur Buchanan, charged with failing to provide for the future maintenance of his child by Sarah Mackey, has been arrested by Detective W. Maddern, Christchurch police, on information supplied by Constable Ryan, of Little River, and remanded to Napier.

Wanganui. —Henry Davy, charged with disobeying an order of Court for the maintenance of his wife, has been arrested by Constable N. Scott, Aratapu police, and remanded to Auckland.

Wellington. —Peter Wren, charged with failing to provide for the support of his illegitimate child by Isabel Tattersail : This warrant has been cancelled.

Christchurch. —Thomas Ferrick, charged with disobeying an order of Court for the support of his father, has been arrested by Constable D. Jackson, Ashburton police, and sent to Christchurch.
