Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
Westport. —George Tinker is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of Court, made on the 23rd March last, to pay 10s. a week towards the support of his wife. Description : English, a coal-miner, about thirty years of age, sft. 6in. or 7in. high, medium build, square shoulders, black hair, small dark moustache only, dark eyes and complexion, very few front teeth ; dressed in a dark suit and hard felt hat. Has a married sister at Nightcaps, Dunedin district, and may go there. (See Police Gazette , 1893, page G 6.) Timaru. —John Fraser, for wife-desertion, has been arrested by Constable Gordon, Hastings Police, on information supplied by Detective Kirby, of Napier, and remanded.
(See Police Gazette, 1893, page 111.) Ashburton. —Thomas Bird, charged with deserting his wife and children, has been arrested by Constable Hunt, and remanded to Timaru.

Wellington. —Sophia Isaacs, alias Taylor, for childdesertion, has been arrested by Sergeant J. Duffin, New Plymouth Police, and remanded.
Normanby (Taranaki). Edward Oldham Crawford deserted his wife, Anne, about four months ago. Description : A colonial, a brewer by trade, thirty-five years of age, sft. llin. high, fair complexion, reddish-brown beard turning grey, hair darker, slight build, round lump on forehead ; wore a dark suit and hard black hat. Complainant last heard from him at the Panama Hotel, Wellington, about the end of March, and he then said he was going South. May be working at Christchurch. He has been a sailor, and may work his passage to Australia. His brother, Linsey Crawford, is manager for Goldsborough, Mort, and Co.’s Victoria River Cattle-station, Port Darwin. No warrant.
