The warrant issued by the Cromwell Bench for the arrest of Stewart McGregor, alias David Thomas Jones, for having obtained goods and money from Charles O’Donnell, at Bendigo, by means of a valueless cheque, has been cancelled.

Patrick O’Donnell is charged, on warrant issued by the Leeston Bench, with having, on the 16th ultimo, at Doylesston, obtained £2 from Edward Baker by means of a valueless cheque drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Southbridge. Description: Irish, a labourer, about thirty-five years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, stout build, full round face, dark hair, strong dark sandy beard whiskers and moustache of about two months’ growth; dressed in dark-tweed suit; respectable appearance.

Patrick Gavigan is charged, on warrant issued by the Dunedin Bench, with having, on tho 22nd March last, at Gore, obtained 10s. from George Butts by false representations. Description: Irish, a labourer, about twenty-five years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, medium build, florid complexion, a hole in right cheek apparently from an old sore, dark hair, and small dark straggling whiskers, slight impediment in speech ; when last seen wore dark-tweed suit, black soft felt hat, new dark-tweed waterproof coat, and heavy silver albert guard. He falsely represented that lie was authorized by John Styles to obtain the money from Mr. Butts.

Neils Neilsen is charged, on warrant issued by the Waipawa Bench, with having, at 4.30 p.m. on the 28th

ultimo, at Kaikunui, Takapau, Hawke’s Bay, committed bestiality with a mare. Description: A Dane, seventeen years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, stout build, fair complexion, full round face, pleasant expression of countenance, a few hairs on upper lip; wore a silver ring on left little finger; speaks good English. He is supposed to be concealed in the Makaretu bush by his friends, who will likely endeavour to get him out of the colony. He was caught committing the offence by Constable Frank Schulz and another person, and was arrested and placed in a room in the Takapau Hotel, from which he escaped about 10 p.m. by jumping through the window. He was handcuffed, and had only his shirt on at the time he made his escape.
