Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
James Coyle is charged on warrant of commitment to gaol for six weeks’ imprisonment, issued by the Auckland Bench, in default of paying £1 fine and £6 4s. costs, for cruelly ill-treating a horse. Description: A native of Auckland, a labourer, about twenty-six years of age, 5 feet 6J inches high, medium build, fair complexion, blue eyes, light-brown hair, clean-shaved except fair moustache.
James Collins, alias Murphy, is charged on warrant of commitment to Napier Gaol for seven days’ imprisonment, issued by the Waipawa Bench, in default of paying £1 fine and 7s. costs, for threatening behaviour with intent to provoke a breach of the peace. Description : Irish, a labourer, twenty-eight years of age, 5 feet 2£ inches high, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, straggling board whiskers and moustache ; dressed in dirty tweed suit.
Supposed to have gone to the Seventy-Mile Bush. He is identical with David Collins, alias Murphy, aims Robert Ryan Wiston, described in Police Gazette, 1882, page 113.
John Morgan is charged, on warrant issued by the Christchurch Bench, with disobeying an order to pay 15s. per week towards the support of his two children. Description: English, a groom, about twenty-eight years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, medium build, fair complexion, dark-grey eyes, dark-brown hair, light-brown beard whiskers and moustache, large forehead, an upper front tooth out, small sore marks on back of hands ; wears a leather strap on left wrist. He was £3 15s. in arrears on the 10th ultimo. ITc left Christchurch about seven weeks ago.
