Deserters from Merchant Vessels.
Anthony Carlbon and William Elliott arc charged with deserting from the barque “ Supreme,” at Lyttelton, on the 6th or 7th instant. Description : Carlbon is a Norwegian, an able seaman, forty years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, stout build, fair complexion, full fair beard and moustache ; dressed in light-tweed coat, dark trousers, and round hard felt hat. Elliott is English, an ordinary seamen, about twenty years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, dark palish complexion, no hair on face except small dark moustache; dressed in dark paget-coat, dark-tweed trousers, and soft dark-felt hat.
Avawl Louis is charged with deserting from the ship “Akaroa,” at Port Chalmers, during the night of the Gth instant. Description: A native of Austria, an able seaman, thirty years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, medium build, sallow complexion, dark eyes, black hair, no hair on face except black moustache, slightly pockpitted. A reward of £2 is offered for his arrest if effected on or before the 25tli instant.
Charles Williams, alias Slasher, is charged, on warrant issued by the Wellington Bench, with deserting from tho steamer “Bombay,” at Wellington, on the 12th or 13th instant. Description : English, a fireman, twenty-two years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, slight build, pale complexion, fair hair, a few hairs on face, weak eyes. A reward of £3 is offered for his arrest.
James Jamison, Richard Hacker, and A. Petersen are charged with deserting from the barque “ May Queen,” at Oamaru, on the 4th and 10th instant. Description : Jamison is between twenty-eight and thirty years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build, sandy complexion, clean-shaved except sandy moustache. Hacker is a German, a carpenter, about thirty years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, medium build, fair complexion, high cheek-bones, long nose, clean-shaved, peculiar expression about eyes, stooped, stiff back. Petersen is supposed to be a Swede, between twenty-five and thirty years of age, 6 feet high, stout square build, sandy com-
plexion, long nose, clean-shaved except heavy moustache; walks with a long stride.
Andrew Petersen and George Marley, able seamen, are charged, on warrant issued by the Wellington Bench, with deserting from the barque “Loch Cree,” at Wellington, during the night of the 16th instant. Description : Petersen is a Norwegian, twenty-two years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, stout build, fair complexion, blue eyes, flaxen hair, small fair moustache; dressed in blue-cloth suit and soft black-felt hat. Marley is English, thirty-three years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, medium build, sallow complexion, brown hair, clean-shaved except small light moustache, round shoulders, stiff appearance, three toes off one of feet; dressed in pepper-and-salt-coloured suit and hard black hat. A reward of £5 each is offered for their arrest.
