Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
(See Police Gazette, 1881, page 84, and 1882, pages 17 and 35.) Thomas Bennett, charged on warrant with deserting his wife, has been arrested by Detective L. D. Benjamin, Wellington Police, remanded to Dunedin, and discharged.
James Donaldson is charged, on warrant issued by the Christchurch Bench, with disobeying an order, since the 14th ultimo, to provide for the support of his wife and family at Christchurch. Description: Scotch, a general dealer and cardsharper, forty-one years of age, 5 feet 6* inches high, stout build, pale complexion, blue eyes, chestnut hair, clean-shaved except sandy moustache; dressed generally in light-tweed suit and soft black-felt hat.

Robert Kerr, charged on warrant with deserting his wife at Springfield, has been arrested by Constable George Cartmill, Malvern Police, and discharged.
