The Wanganui Ladies’ Golf Club is again continuing to augument its subscription to the Red Cross Fund by undertaking the management of tea on club days. As a result it has increased its match entry fees by an additional £ls. » * * « * Auckland. In the semi-finals of the Auckland Ladies’ Golf Club’s annual championship senior grade Miss E. Upton beat
Miss Cooper, sup and 3-to play; and Miss M. Payton, who played excellent golf, doing 11 holes in 49 strokes, beat Mrs. Dargaville, 8 up and 1 to play. In the junior grade Miss Culling beat Miss Ridings, 3 up and 2 to play, and Miss M. Buckleton beat Miss F. Abbott, 4 up and 3 to play. ; The finals were played on, Friday. In the grade, Miss M. Payton,, playing excellent golf, beat Miss E. Upton, Bup and 7to play. In the junior grade, Miss E. Culling beat Miss M. Buckleton, 5 up and 4 to play, going out in 49. Both players were well above junior standard, Miss Culling taking 23 for the last five holes of the homeward journey. Her total for 14 holes was 72.
Maungakiekie.
The following were the best cards returned for the Red Cross match played by the Maungakiekie Eadies’ Golf Club:—Miss McGovern, gross score 108, handicap 24, net score 84; Miss Ridings, 108 —21 —87; Mrs. Saxton, 108 —19 —89. The final of the club championship match was played between Miss Gorrie and Miss Moginie, resulting in Miss Gorrie winning by 5 up and 4 to play. The last match of the season will he played on October 2. Entries will close on October 1, and players will choose their own partners. The proceeds will be in aid of the Red Cross Fund.
Following are the results of the match between the Maungakiekie Ladies’ Club and the Auckland Ladies’ Club, Auckland players being mentioned first: Miss Alison defeated Miss. Moginie, Miss Holmes defeated Miss Crowther, Miss N. McCormick defeated Miss Cooke, Miss M. Macfarlane defeated Mrs. Saxton, Miss Frater and Mrs. Stewart all square, Miss P. Macfarlane lost to Mrs. Owen, Miss Bloomfield lost to Miss Wilson, Miss Buckleton lost to Miss McGovern.
