Wounded soldiers and their nurses assist in raising funds for the Southgate War Hospitals at a spectacular English Fair recently held at Broomfield Park. The wounded Tommies entered spiritedly into the day’s frolic, while their nurses did much to add to the attractiveness of the enjoyable entertainment provided those who patronised the carnival. The illustration shows a nursing sister, attired as a newsboy, selling the latest war news to a wounded soldier masquerading as a nurse.
