AUTUMN MEETING. RORKE’S DRIFT WINS SOUTHLAND CUP. The Southland Racing Club opened their autumn meeting on Wednesday in cold, showery weather, the attendance being fair. The track was somewhat heavy, but some good racing resulted. The totalisator handled £11,939, which is £1227 less than on the opening day last year. The meeting was concluded on Thursday in fine weather, an improvement in the attendance taking place in consequence. The racing proved keen, and speculation was of a spirited character, £12,839 being handled, making a total of £24,878 for the meeting, an increase of £4 over last year.
