LADIES’ GOLF.
Wanganui. A baby voting contest to raise funds for the Red Cross is being conducted by the members of the Wanganui Lad’es’ Golf Club. A certain number of votes will be given as prizes to the leading babies each week and at the end of the competition five handsome prizes will be given to the five babies securing the largest number of votes, the first prize being £5 ss. Kaiapoi. A foursomes match between Ka apoi and Rangiora Clubs was played at Kaiapoi on August 4. The following were the results, Kaiapoi players being mentioned first: —Mrs. Butcher and T. Butcher (i) v. Miss Lynskey and J. Macfarlane (1), Miss Hiatt and J. Martin (0) v. Miss Fear and W. Prosser (1), Miss Blackwell and G. Miller (1) v. Miss Cunningham and W. D. Johnson (0), Miss McGregor and F. Rinaldi (1) v. Miss Ambrose and H. J. Gulliver (0), Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Evans (0) v. Mr. and Mrs. R. McDonald (1), Miss T. Parnham and S. Edwards (1) v. Miss Horrell and R. Warner (0), Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Leithead (1) v. Miss Kerr and J. Stewart (0), Mrs. Templeton and R. Wyllie (1) v. Miss Vickery and ,R. Smith (0), Messrs. Rollinson and Kissling (1) v. Messrs. Franks and McDougall (0). Totals: Kaiapoi, 6i; Rangiora, 2%. Otago. The monthly L.G.U. Medal round was played on the 7th inst. The day was bright and sunny, but the ground was very heavy, consequently the scores were rather high. More members are playing now, which makes match day much more interesting. Those playing were: Mesdames Sargood, J. A. Cook, Acheson, the Misses Mclntosh, Roberts, C. Williams, Theomin, Black, B. and N. Glendining and V. Fynmore for the Senior Grade, and Mesdames Aiken, Bakewell, Gilray, the Misses E. Law and L. Sargood, 101 —12 —89; D. Theomin, best scores were V. Fynmore, 103 — 19 —84; N. Glendining, 106 —17 —89; L. Sargood, 101 —12 —89; D. Thcomier, 104 —11 —93 for the Senior and Miss
Huia Sargood for the Juniors with 118 —34 —84. A very enjoyable afternoon took place next day, when mixed foursomes were played, 16 couples taking part. It was only a friendly match, each couple playing their opponents. It is hoped to make it a club fixture, the foursomes to -be played on the second Wednesday in the month. Mrs. P. R. Sargood (captain) provided afternoon tea.
