FRENCH TRICOLOUR DAY.
HUGE FETE TO BE HELD IN AUCKLAND. The Patriotic Societies of Auckland are at present busily employed making preliminary arrangements for French Tricolour Day, which is to be honoured in Auckland in right royal style on Friday, February 25. This huge fete will be conducted from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. in Queen Street. Newmarket, Karangahape Road, Grafton Bridge, Symonds Street, etc., and should prove one of the most successful patriotic carnivals yet held in the Dominion. The fete has been organised in aid of the French Red Cross, which have done yeoman service in the great European conflict, and is under the patronage of the Prime
Minister, Mayor of Auckland, suburban Borough Councils, and provincial Borough and County Councils. French stalls for the sale of every conceivable kind of sweets, cakes, delicacies, refreshments and fancy goods will be erected in the streets, while decorated cafes will be in evidence in several of the leading buildings in Queen Street. A huge procession will be held from the Ferry Buildings to the Grey Statue, and French Tricolour Day should prove a memorable occas'on with Aucklanders, judging by the whole-hearted efforts of those who are assisting in this worthy movement.
