CRICKET.
The second series of matches in the Auckland Cricket Association’s championships were concluded on Saturday in showery weather, making the wickets somewhat dead. In the senior grade two centuries were registered, Sommerville (Parnell) nutting together 138 runs, and Cummings (Eden) 114. Ponsonby v. Eden. —On the previous Saturday Ponsonby’s first innings amounted to 140 runs, while Eden had 89 runs on the board for three pickets. Cbntinuing-their ■ innings on Saturday Eden brought their total up to .221 runs (Hemus 16, Cummings .114, Gordon ~ 2.4)... For • Ppm sonby'McMath' tcbk four w ckets for 81 runs, Wilson two for 19, Kavanagh two for 60, Sneddon one for 35 and Woods one for 19. Ponsonby in their second innings scored 87 runs for four wickets (Woods 22, Kavanagh 28 not out). Eden thus won by eight runs.
University y. North Shore. —University, first innings, 94 runs. North Shore 158. University, second innings, 134 (G. Mulgan 18, Caradus 29). For North Shore Howden took three wickets for 20, Townsend two for 26, W. Bush two for 25, and G. Dacre two for 32. North Shore, second innings, 74 runs for two wickets. North Shore won by eight wickets and 3 runs.
Parnell v. Grafton.—Parnell, first innings, 227. Grafton, first innings, 173 (Mason 22, Sauvarin 21, E Horspool 19, Pratt 39 not out). For PafHell ’ Oliff took six wickets for 65 runs, Anthony two for 49 and Stephens one for 7. Parnell second innings, 193 runs for three wickets (Sommerville 138, Grenier 23, Anthony 19). Parnell won by 54 runs cn the first innings.
