CRICKET.

A start was made on Saturday with the tenth and final round of the Auckland Cricket Association’s district championship matches, which were played in ideal weather. Although no centuries were registered during the afternoon many batsmen put together good individual scores, the best performances being those of A. Anthony (62), R. Woods (59). and H. Caro (54). The bowlers had a day out, several of them being responsible for highly creditable displays. Mulgan, of University, succeeded in bringing off the “hat trick” in the match against Ponsonby, taking three wickets for 7 runs. Other bowlers who displayed good form were A. M. Howden. of North Shore who took five wickets for 39 runs and A. Hadden, of North Shore, who secured four for 45. At the Domain Parnell batted nearly the whole of the afternoon in their match against Grafton, and had a fairly large total to their credit when the last wicket fell. Ponsonby batted below form in their match against University at the Domain, and had it not been for Woods and Wilson their total would not have been very large, as several of the men were dismissed for “duck’s eggs.” The North Shore-Eden match was commenced at Devonport, and the bowling of Howden and Hadden proved disastrous to the Eclenites. who did not make much

over the century. On going to the wickets the Shoremen made an excellent start with their first innings, and it is practically a certainty that the North Shore Club will now win the 1910-11 district championship.
