GORE RACES.
The Gore Racing Club's summer meeting commenced last week. There was a large attendance. The weather was good. There were ten bookmakers inside and three outside. The sum of £5595 passed through the totalisator, as against £4898 for the corresponding day last year. In the Cup Astrakhan struck a post, and brought Probable and Speculate down. Astrakhan broke his stifle, and his rider (Futcher) received a muscular strain. The other horses and riders escaped with minor injuries. Astrakhan. was shot. The following were the result of the races:— OTARAIA ’ HACK WELTER, five furlongs.—Larkspur. 8.0, 1; Gpld, 9.11, 2; Seaside, 8.5, 3. Won by a neck. Time, Imin 2sec. _ LONGFORD HACK HANDICAP, six furlongs.—Auchmfior, 8.7, 1; Portfire, 9.1, 2; Hukarere, 8.12, 3. Won by half a length. Time, Imin 18 l-ssec. GORE CUP. one mile and a-quarter.— Waiju, 9.1, 1: Stratagem, 7.5, 2; Fedor, 6.7, 3. Won by a length. Time, 2mm 9 3-ssec. NEW YEAR TROT, two miles.—Lady’s Maid, 19sec, 1; Bow Bells, 14sec, 2; Black Pride, 20sec, ■3. Won by six lengths. Time, smin lOsec. WELCOME HACK HANDICAP, seven furlongs.—Pure Gold, 8.5, 1; King Torrent, 9.0, 2; Alfreda, 8.10, 3. Won by half a length. Time. Imin 31sec. ■SUMMER HANDICAP, six furlongs. —Kostroma, 7.10, 1; Sea King, 9.8, 2; Sombrero, 6.12, 3. Won by a length. Time, Imin 15 2-ssee. ELECTRIC TROT, one mile.—Eccentric, 16sec, 1; Ma Chere, 13sec. 2; Regina Bell, 7sec, 3. Won by six lengths. Time, 2mm 27sec. CROYDON HANDICAP, seven furlongs.—Eous, 7.10, 1: San Severe, 8.2. 2; Officious, 8.8, 3. Won by a length. Time, Imin 30 2-ssec.
