THE WINDSOR ROLLER RINK.
Nothing succeeds like successSince the opening night the Windsor Roller Rink has been well patronised at every session—there are five daily —and rinking, as a form of public amusement, 'is so evidently increasing in public favour that the proprietor of the rink, Mr. E- R. James, has already decided upon enlarging it, and on Monday afternoon completed arrangements for the purchase of a section of land at the rear of the Windsor, with a view to the early extension of the floorage. Under Mr. McEwan’s careful management the rink is being kept very select and free from undesirable characters. A courteous and efficient staff has been organised, and every arrangement made for the comfort and convenience of visitors. The gallery offers an excellent ’ vantage point for those who prefer to watch the skaters, and is nightly well patronised. We understand that it is intended to run picture shows at the Windsor during the summer months, and to revert to the skating with the approach of winter. But for a couple of months or so there should be little or no falling off in the interest which attaches to skating. As a form of public amusement it has evidently come to stay.
At the conclusion of its Melbourne season, the Grand Opera Company is to visit Adelaide for a short time, and then return to Sydney. Tn the latter city the repertoire will be augmented by the inclusion of “ Il Pagliacci” and “ Cavalleria Rusticana.” In connection with this season a very interesting appearance will be that of Mr. Reginald Roberts, who will sing the tenor parts, all of which are well known to him, as he has sung them at the New York Metropolitan Opera House.
