Te Arai was easily beaten by a mate at the finish of nine furlongs, which took 1.55 1-5. Mania, with a companion, jumped the schooling hurdles in 1.51. Bully and a mate shaped nicely over the same distance. The Heathen and an unnamed one also had a round of the schooling jumps, the former showing great jumping ability.
