W. B. Smith, of the Eden Club, finished up the season with the fine batting average of 41.3 as the result of eleven innings. * » » * E. V. Sale has been a useful batsman for the Parne 1 eleven, as his average of 35.72 for fourteen, innings indicates. F. J. Cossey’s record of taking 44 wickets for City at an average cost of 12.8 is full of merit, for he was not too well supported by the field. * * * • The English professional, A. E. Relf, heads the Eden Club’s batting averages with the remarkable one of 110 per Innings. He was not out twice. He also heads the bowling averages, taking 41 wickets at a cost of 9.6 runs apiece. During the season just finished Eden scored 23 points, Grafton 12, North Shore 11, City 10, Parnell 10, and Ponsonby 5. sp * * * I should have expected that Hemus would have easily topped the City Club’s batting averages, but thanks to a not-out innings of 204 by R. Ne..l the veteran is in pride of place with 32.6, “ Chummy” coming next with 28.4,
