THE WHITLEY CUP RACE.

The N.Z. Power Boat Association’s race for the Cup presented by Commodore W. S. Whitley and Vice-Com-modore C. A. Whitney was somewhat marred by bad weather. The nor’easter raised a lumpy sea, making the

experience of the crews far from pleasant. The results were as follows: — Class B. —Course, 10% knots. Times of starting: Regal, 2h. om. 55.; Marere, 2h. Im. 425.; Camper, 2h. 10m.; Napier, 2h. 11m. 365.; Shadow, 2h. 12m. 295.; Reality, 2h. 15m. 2s. The finishing times were: Camper, 3h. 19m. 355.; Napier, 3h. 23m. 125.; Marere, 3h. 24m. 205.; Regal, 3h. 26m. 245.; Shadow, 3h. 27m. 18s.; Reality, 3h. 29m. 12s. Class A. —Course, seven knots. Edna and Victory did not put in an appearance. Tempest was sent away at 2h. 29m. 595., and Ripple at 2h. 30m. 255. This was an excellent bit of handicapping, Ripple just getting past on the post, the times being: Ripple, 3h. 36m. 555.; Tempest, 3h. 36m. 595. Class C. —Course, 10% knots. The entries were: —Baby Lozier and Grey Witch. The former did not turn up, and the latter was sent away at 2h. 51m. 325., finishing at 3h. 40m. 4s.

The three winners of the heats — Ripple, Camper and Grey Witch — then competed for the final over the seven-knot course, being sent away as follows: —Ripple, 4h. om. 25.; Camper, 4h. 12m. 335.; Grey Witch, 4h. 29m. 525. The finishing times were: Ripple, sh. 2m. 135.; Grey Witch, sh. 3m. 235.; Camper, sh. 4m. 265.
