Saturday proved delightfully fine, the result being that there was a great gathering of the clans on the bowling greens, and many games were played.

Brookes has beaten Lyons in the semi-final of the Auckland Club championship after a keen tussle. Brookes won the first game by 21 to 15, Lyons taking the next by 19 to 16. A tactical error cost Lyons the game in the final. He was four up at the eighteenth head. Brookes got a beauty on the jack, but his other three were poor. Lyons, instead of draw.ng for a second shot, drove, and, for once missing, left Brookes lying four, and ultimately the latter won by 20 to 18.
