THE WHANGAREI RACING CLUB.
One of the pleasant country fixtures after the hurly-burly of the Cup meeting in Auckland is that of the Whangarei Racing Club, which eventuates on January 11 and 12, 1907. The card drawn up, and which will be found in another column, is one that is bound to attract the favourable notice of owners. Seven events are provided each day, these being for the first day : The Railway Handicap of 25SOVS, 6 furlongs; the First Hurdles of 30S0VS, if miles; the Whangarei Cup of Bosovs, if miles; the Kensington Stakes of 30S0VS, 5 furlongs; the Settlers’ Handicap of 2osovs, one mile; the Publican’s Purse of 3OSOVS, one mile; and the Flying Handicap of 30S0VS, 4 furlongs. On the second dav the items are the Tradesmen’s Plate of 30SOVS, one mile; Second Hurdles of 25SOVS, if miles; Summer Handicap of 30S0VS, 6 furlongs; Park Handicap of 6osovs, one mile; Marsden Stakes of 3osovs, 7 furlongs ; Hack Handicap of 25SOVS, 7 furlongs ; Farewell Handicap of 25SOVS, 5 furlongs. For these events entries close with R. J. Dent, the Secretary, Whangarei, or with Mr H. H. Hayr, High street, Auckland, on Friday, December 21, at 9 p.m.
