TROTTING.

AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB’S SPRING MEETING.

Next Saturday the Auckland Trotting Club will break the ice as fai’ as trotting is concerned for this season. There has been such a long respite that lovers of the trotter should keenly appreciate the good things to be set before them at Alexandra Park, and there should be a goodly muster next Saturday to witness the sport. To meet the expected big increase in the traffic, a number of extra cars will be put by the Electric Tramways Company on the Epsom run, so that there will be no difficulty at all experienced in getting out to the convincing ground. Eight events will come up for consideration, and as the acceptances are good, there seems much prospect of some fine sport being seen. The programme to be gone through is as follows:—Spring Trot Handicap, two miles; Stewards’ Trot Handicap, one mile and a-half; Electric Trot Handicap, one mile; Middle-class Trot Handicap, one mile and a-half; Onehunga Handicap, six furlongs and ahalf; October Handicap, five furlongs; Pony Trot Handicap, one mile; Maiden Trot Handicap, one mile. As usual, Mr. Mark, the secretary, has taken steps to have all arrangements for the convenience of patrons on most up-to-date lines, so that there will be nothing to fear in -this respect. The first race is due to start at one o’clock. The acceptances will he found in another column.
