Nobtheneb.— No; Macaroni only carried 12st when he won the Great Northern Steeplechase in 1885, and Levanter, when he won in 1897 —his second victory in the race —carried 12st 11b, the heaviest burden that has yet been borne to victory in the Great Northern Steeplecase.
