TROTTING CALENDAR. FIXTURES. February 17, Sat; 21, Wed; 24, Sat —Otahuhu T.C Summer NOMINATIONS. May 4—Ashburton T.C Autumn NOTES. At the last meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Association, all the disqualifications and fines imposed by the Auckland Trotting Club during their Summer Meeting were confirmed. Messrs Churton and Co. sold the privileges in connection with the Summer Meeting of the Otahuhu Trotting Club, on Friday, when the booths were purchased by Mr G. Dunn for £127. The Scott Printing Company obtained the cards for £6O, and Mr Edwards bought the gates for £l3l. The Breeder and Sportsman of December 23 says : —Winter before last Ed. Geers took the Hamlin string to Belma, and for a time after the season opened he swept everything before him, and then the horses commenced to go wrong and from the middle to the end of the season they did not do well. Last winter he trained at the Jewettville covered track, and was somewhat better pleased. This winter he has already taken a string to the covered track, comprising twentyone head, among them being The Abbot, 2.6 J, by Chimes ; The Monk, who has had a two years’ rest; Equity, 2.12£, by Heir-at-law ; Tudor Chimes, 213, by Chimes; The Queen, 2.10|, by Chimes ; Ihe Earl, 2.17, by Mambrino King; Dare Devil, 2.9 J, by Mambrino King; Merriment, 2.13|, by Mambrino King* The Earl, The Monk, and Equity were not raced last season, but great things are expected of them the coming year, and Mr Hamlin expects The Abbot and The Monk to be in shape to lower the team record, 2.12|. made by Honest George and B< lle Hamlin. The world’s champion pacing mare, Lady of the Manor, 2.4£, has not yet recovered from the accident at Louisville, but she is slowly improving, and hopes are entertained that she wifi, be racing again next season.
