The owner of Paddy then protested against this decision, appealing to the South Island Trotting Association. The stakes and totalisator money are held over, pending the result of the appeal. The dividend on Paddy would be about £25, and on Blackpool £2. At the starting post for the Scurry, Price, riding St. Finebar, was kicked by Hotu, sustaining a very bad broken leg.
