WILMINGTON was bred by the late Senator Leland Stanford, and as a two-year-old showed a 2.35 gait remarkably fast, for it was done in a high-wheeled sulky. He was then purchased for £4OO or £5OO, but was not raced, but bred to a lot of mares and driven as a road horse. His stock are big. fine, saleable horses of his own color. ALBERT VICTOR is a bav horse with black points, standing 15 hands 3 inches, beautifully proportioned, and showing great quality. On the track he has shown himself to be one of the very speediest performers seen out. He covered a mile on the New Brighton course the fastest ever shown on the ground, and in all his races proved himself a game and generous racehorse. He was never thoroughly well when raced, and is capable of better things than his performances indicate. ALBERT VICTOR’S sire, Albert W., holds a record of 2.10, and is the sire of several in the select list, while his grandsire, Electioneer, has more star performers than any other sire in America. Victorine dam of Albert Victor, is by Echo, who has sired a long list of first-class performers, and one of his daughters is dam of Direct 2.06, one of America’s champions.
