News is to hand from Sydney of the sale of Mr Samuel Hordern’s racehorses on Monday last. The sale was consequent upon Mr Hordern’s determination to relinquish racing pursuits. This decision was the outcome of the now famous Gun bearer case at the late Randwick meeting. The prices on Monday were not sensational, the highest being as follows : —Vivian by Abercorn— Lady Vivian, 600 guineas; yearling colt by Grandmaster —First Love, 340 guineas: Cravat by Castor—Necklace, 320 guineas: Johansen by Nordenfelt, 320 guineas : Toreador by Chester or Abeicorn —Sempe, 260 guineas. It will be noticed that no mention is made of Astronomer by Castor —Frailty, this is perhaps on account of the bidding not reaching the reserve put upon theWellington Park bred horse.
