Accordin" to the reports of the U.S. Government engineers the long dreamed of waterway through the Panama Isthmus will be ready for traffic eighteen months before the official opening, which lias been fixed for January Ist, 1915. The photograph is an elevated view of the Miretlores upper lock, and shows tile construction ot the gigantic lift sills.
