The Argentine perennial pea (Lathyrus Pubescens) has flowered most pro fusely in and around Auckland this spring. It is a glorious sight when well grown against a house or fence, the long spikes of pale violet flowers and the green foliage making a most conspicuous object. Where cut flowers are in demand. or where a plant is required for climbing some six or seven feet, we know of no better plant than this. The seed is very scarce, and is not easily germinated. But plants can be bought from the nurseryman for a shilling or thereabouts.
