October 9th. A Dance. Last Friday evening in the Broughamstreet Hall was an animated scene, when about fifty couples assembled to a fancydress dance. Amongst those present were: Mies Bedford, pale heliotrope muslin, with darker’ shade of velvet; Miss Kirkby, cream embroidered net; Miss Hanna, turquoise blue silk with bands of cream insertion; Miss N. Hanna, cream silk Directoire finished with gold guimpe; Miss W. Bradney, white muslin; Miss MeAllum, pale pink trimmed with cream; Miss D. Hill, Jrencn peasant Miss Jessie Home looked sweet as Winter; Miss • Silvia Bayly, Spanish Dancer; Miss Kathleen Hood, Spanish Dancer; Miss K. Penn, Pierrette; Miss Nola Wiggs made a charming Cherry Ripe; Miss Pat Bayly, Gipsy; Miss Margie Cork-ill, Folly; Miss Mona Corkill, Colleen Bawn; Miss Irene Foote, A Rose; Miss Nora Jackson, Spanish Dancer; Master Teddy and Miss Rita Whittle made a dainty Jack and Jill; Miss A. Hawke, Lady in Waiting; Miss Sybil Fitzherbert looked well as a Turkish Lady; Miss Doreen Watkins made a sweet little Flower Girl; Miss Olive Palmer, Gipsy; Miss Lucy Howarth looked very pretty as a Bongbong; Miss I. Corney, white silk; Miss E. Atkinson, pale blue muslin; Miss v.iolwell, white muslin; Misses W. and K. Bennett, white silk; Misses H. and I. Rollo, white muslin; Mr. Tresidder looked extremely well as an Indian Rajah; Master Hambury Oswan, Cricketer; Master Eric Kimbell Court Jester; Master —. Blundell, Sailor; Master Don Grant, Jew; Mr. —. Marks wore a striking Austrian'Peasant’s gala costume; Mr. L. Hill, Cricketer; Master Neville Fox, Footballer; Masters Bradbury (2), Sailors.
Personal. Miss C. Macklow, who has be'en visiting her aunt (Mrs. Everard Gilmour), has returned to her home in Auckland. miss Carrie Bayly, who has been visiting Hamilton, has returned to New Plymouth, accompanied by her sister (Mrs. Jim Noble) and the baby. Mrs. W. Cathro and Miss E. Rennell, of Auckland, are visiting their relatives in New Plymouth. Miss N. Hanna, (New Plymouth) is visiting her relatives in Auckland. Rev. Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Evans are on a short visit to Auckland, the former to attend the Synod. Mr. A. Rutledge, who has been relieving Mr. Skelton as manager of the New Zealand Express Company, New Plymputh, left last week for his home in Lyttelton.
