NAPIER.
October 8. vroqnet. On Saturday afternoon last glorious weather prevailed for the opening of the Bluff Hill Croquet Club’s season. The green was in splendid order, and played very true, and it was quite delightful
to see the ladies in their light summer frocks again. Mrs Stedman, who is president of the club, welcomed the visitors in a neat little speech, and drove the first ball through the hoops. Mrs Stedman also acted as hostess at the afternoon tea. There should be some very interesting games during the season. Mrs Pharazyn has presented four trophies for competition, and Mrs W. McCarthy has donated a championship gold medal. Personal. Mrs and Miss Miles, of Wellington, are on a visit to Napier. Mr and Mrs R. Johnston, of Motuotaraia, and the Misses Johnston, are in town this week. Mr and Miss Gaisford were in town last week. Mrs W. A. Kennedy and Miss Kennedy, of Wellington, are visiting Mr C.
