October 9. Musical Afternoon. A charming little musical afternoon was given by Mrs. A. H. Nieoll on Thursday afternoon for her sister (Mrs. A. B. Herroid), who is staying with her at present. Mrs. Nieoll ' received her guests in a white embroidered muslin blouse, black silk skirt; Mrs. Herroid, pale blue ninon de soie frock with white tucked net yoke, bordered with white Oriental insertion and pale blue glace; Mrs. Lundon, navy blue coat and skirt and golden straw hat draped with blaek Oriental satin, black jet buckle and black feathers; Mrs. W. A. Scott, brown tweed tailor-made, brown bear fur and white felt hat, trimmed with brown and white wings; Mrs. (Dr.) Roberts, green cloth costume, brown velvet hat with brown feathers, and sable furs; Mrs. R. J. Roberts, reseda green Sicilian cloth costume, black laee scarf, and black toque; Miss Gavin (Wellington), black serge tailor-made, black hat, trimmed with silk and black wings; Miss Wells, dark grey tweed tailor-made, and navy blue velvet hat with white wings; Miss Gwynneth, neather mixture tweed tailormade, green straw hat with wreath of cornflowers and daisies, and large sapphire blue velvet bow at the back. Personal. Miss Willis is in Auckland, having gone down to be present at Miss MuirDouglas’ wedding. Miss Kathleen Willis is staying at Waihi, having gone to be present at her cousin’s (Miss Alice Atkins) wedding, which took place last Tuesday. Mrs. H. Hall, of Otahuhu, is at present in Cambridge, having come up to visit her mother ;Mrs. Young, of “Linton”), who is seriously ill.
