The enthusiasm everywhere shown for the Budget would be Increased by the speech from a raven croaking on his withered branch. Tf the Lords rejected the Budget they would raise on issue which might c6st them their coronets. A mandate must then be received to, besides carrying the Finance Bill, permanently curb the cruel and blighting power of the Lords. — Mr J. W. Holland, Government Whip. A love-smitten youth who was studying the approved methods of. proposal asked one of his bachelor friends if he thought that a young man should propose to a girl on hi® knees. “If he doesn’t,” replied his friand, “the girl should get off.”
