THE HOSPITAL PETE held last Thursday proved an immense success, and no doubt a very substantial sum will be available for the Destitute Patients’ Fund. It was a lovely day. and the well-kept and beautifully-situ-ated grounds were seen to perfection; and so were the charming summer toilettes, which one has had few opportunities of wearing, so cold and wet has the season been. Lady Plunket, with Mr and Mrs A. E. G. Rhodes, were received by Mrs Julius (President) and Miss Tripp (hon. secretary), and after going through the grounds they were provided with afternoon tea in a special marquee. Lady Plunket won* a dainty frock of pale pink radium, trimmed with inching-' of the same material and killings of cream lace, small hat of brown straw and chiffon with ostrich feathers of same shade, brown and white ostrich stole: Mrs A. E. G. Altogether the fete was most enjoyable, and must have been highly satisfactory to the promoters. A BRIDGE PARTY was given on Saturday evening at the Inion Bank by Mrs. Wardrop. Amongst the guests were Mrs. Wigram, Airs. Alister (lark (Melbourne). Mrs. Geo. Gould, Mrs. Beswick. Mrs. J. C. Palmer, the Alisses Bathgate. Symes, Lee, Reeves, and Alurray-Aynsley, Airs. P. Campbell. Airs. T. Cowlishaw, and Miss Denniston. AN AFTERNOON TEA was given last Thursday by Mrs. W alter Aloore in honour of her guests, the Rev. Lyttelton Fitzgerald and Airs. Fitzgerald. 'those present were: Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Hill. Mr. and Mrs. P. (’ampbell. Mrs. J. Williams, Aliss Williams, Airs. Denniston, Airs. Wilkin and Airs. C. Cooper. A All SIC AL EVENING was given on Friday by Mrs. Walter Aloore, the guests including Airs. Elworthy, Airs. AV. Bond, Air. and Mrs. Henry Cotterill, the Rev. Lyttelton Fitzgerald. Airs. Fitzgerald, the Alisses Cook, Airs. Vernon, and Airs. Gower-Burns. The Alisses Alurray-Aynsley gave A SMALL BRIDGE PARTY on Wednesday evening, the players being Airs. Beswick, Airs. T. Cowlishaw, Airs. Wigram. Mrs. Reeves. Aliss Reynolds and Aliss Lee. POLO. 'the grounds had a very animated appearance on Saturday, when there was a record attendance. Airs.
