RIFLE SHOOTING.
■WANGANUI, Monday. The return match between the bon. members of the Walroa Mounted Hilles aud the Irish Hitlea was lived at Waverley. The Fi-lsb Hilles seored a -win by 44 point's. Sergeant I'nrnell put on the possible at 200 yards. Lanee-Sergeant A. Purnell was top scorer for the Irishmen with 1)3, and D. Alela'at* tilled the same position among the Wairoas with S 7. Hain interfered greatly with tlie shooting at the longer ranges.
The members of the Te Aroba Rifle Club held two days’ shooting last week (on Thursday and Saturday)' for. a cup given by Air R. L. Somers, of the Hot Springs Hotel. Each competitor fired seven shots at 200 yards, and seven at 300 yards. The following scores resulted: —Mt J. Gavin, 54; Air J. Hanley, 53; Air W. Dickson, 51; Air F. Wild, 51; Air F. Pavitt, 49; Air J. AfcCord, 47; Mr G. Frith, 47; Air J. McKee, sen., 45; Mr A. AlcKee, 45; Air E. Gallagher. 44; Mr A. F. Burton, 44; Air P. Heathcote, 44; Mr F. AlcKie, 44; Mr 11. W. Dalton, 43; Ah’ F. C. Pavitt, 42; Air J. T. Aiaingay, 40; Air E. Nash, 37; Mr F. Harris, 35; Air Nelson, 34.
