AQUATICS.

AUCKLAND BOWING CLUB. The Club held trials on Saturday for gold brooches presented by Mr Leo Myers, there being a large attendance of members and a capital day’s sport resulted. Dr. A. G. Maitland officiated as starter, and gave every satisfaction. Mr Myers was present during the afternoon. The first race was between crews stroked by Fort, Gooch and Brown; the latt-r crew led till about hnlf-way, when tliey wert overtaken by the other two crews, who fought out the finish. T.ovett's crew beat Fookes. Tn the third heat there were three crews, t>acre, Negus, and Whelan. Negus’ crew wort last under way, but bore a Winning aspect about a hundred yards from home, where Dacre’s crew spurted and won by a quarter of a length. The final brought out the winners of the three heats, from a fairly good sttrt, Fort's crew having slightly the worst, f.ovett’s crew went to the front, closely followed by Dacre; the positions were the same when half the distance was covered. Here Dacre spurted, and Fort made an effort which brought the three crews nearly level, and a great race home resulted in not three feet separating the crews. The winners were W. J. Lovett, H. Cleal, J. Chisholm and R. Benjamen, and H. 11. Dacre. H. McKnight, F. Clark and J. Kerr were second.

MANUKAU YACHT RACE.

The sixth yacht race of the season and the final for the cup was sailed on Saturday afternoon, under the auspices of the Mantikau Yacht Club. The first prize was £l, and the second s'. The following were the handicaps:—Belle, scratch; Mascotte, 2m; Molly Swash 7m; Mizpah, Sm; St. Anns 8m; Industry. 16m; Unknown, 16m; Fedora, 17m; Kiwi, 17m; Myrtle, 18m; Petrel. 24m; Coon. 32m; Patiki, 33m; Lifebuoy, 35min; Quail, 40m; Galatea, 45m. The race, which was very keenlycontested. resulted as follows:- —Mizpah, 1; Industry, 2; Myrtle, 3; Mascotte. 4. The Maseotte secures the cup with a total of 27 points. A protest has been entered against the winner of Saturday’s race for sailing with her square-headed spinnaker.
