For the sake of geographical accuracy it should be stated tha the correct name of this island is Caroline Island, and by ths name it is known on the maps. It is one of the Manihiki Group and lies to the west of and between the Pomotu and MarnuesaIslands. Caroline Island was brought prominently before the scientific world a few years ago as being about the only place on the earth from which the total eclipse of the sun was visible on May 6th. ISsl and was visited at that time by noted European and American astronomers and scientific investigators.
