THE CHRISTCHURCH GOLF CLUB.
IT is just about a year ago since the founding and subsequent career of the Christchuich Golf Clnb formed the
subject of an article in the Graphic. The past twelve months has witnessed an ever-increasing enthusiasm for the ancient game unparalleled in the history of the colony, and has not yet reached its culminating point. The tonrnament of this year, which took place in July,
was as successful a function as conld well be imagined. A photo of the Christchurch Golf Club, taken at the time, is now given. We regret no list of names was forwarded, but doubtless our readers will be able to pick out many friends or acquaintances. The winner of the handicap, Mr J. C. Wilson, forms the subject of another illustration. On all hands it is admitted that he showed some of the best golf displayed, his handicap performance being a very fine one. For neatness of
style he could not be beaten, and he undoubtedly had bard luck in being put out of the championship by Rattray, who met Wilson when the latter was playing much below bis usual game. Wilson by many was considered a better man than Mac Neil, but the latter beat him in the club match by one hole after a fine game.
