Dear Bee, July 25. There was nothing to say last week, and so I spared you the infliction of trying to say it, but this week there is more news. For one thing the weather has been better, and people have been able to get about. On several days there has been quite a promise of spring. A large EVENING AT MRS MACKENZIE'S was very much enjoyed. There was some excellent music, Mrs Stilling giving a piano solo. Miss M. Maitland contributing a violin solo, and Miss K. Rattray a solo on the ‘cello.’ Miss K. Mills sang, Mrs Mills playing her accompaniment. Mrs Mills ami Mrs Williams sang a duet together, the Misses Cargill gave an original dialogue, and Mrs Hosking also gave an interesting reading. AT MRS JAMES MILLS* IMPROMPTU DANCE, Among the guests were Mrs Lindo Ferguson, Misses Cargill, Miss F. Spence, Miss Dy mock, the Misses Rattray, Miss Wardrop, Miss E. M. Maclaren. Miss A. Roberts, Miss E. Roberts, Miss Reid, and Miss C. Reid. A GIRLS' AFTERNOON was given by the Misses Spence for the purpose of saying good bye to the Misses Cargill. There were about forty present, and a good deal of music was indulged in. Miss Gwen Roberts played. Miss R. Reynolds contributec songs, so also did Miss Lulu Roberts. LARGE AT HOME. Mrs Boyd, the host ess, wore a very handsome yellow silk covered with black lace ; Mrs Mills, one of the guests, looked nice in black silk, the bodice trimmed with jet; Mrs H. Mackenzie, green silk with pink silk niching and sleeves ; Mrs Lindo Ferguson, black silk striped with pink and heliotrope straps of ribbon on the bodice; Mrs Williams, yellow silk, the front being covered with b'ack lace; Mrs Rattray, handsome black velvet; Mrs Hosking. yellow and whitestriped ailk ; Miss Reid.stylish black velvet; Miss Williams, red covered with black lace; Miss M. Williams prettiwhite and yellow ; Miss R. Mailland, white cashmere, silk trimmings, large sleeves of silk; Miss P. Gibson, pale pink trimmed with bt‘be ribbons of green ; Miss Reynolds, pale pink silk covered with black lace: Miss Maclaren, old rose Liberty silk with large silk sleeves; Miss F. Rattray, white covered with black lace; Miss Gilkison. red broche silk ; Miss A. Roberts, yellow and ’ v, * ss Ogston. pale pink Bengaline with white lace; Miss E. Maclaren, pale blue with narrow black ribbon velvet trimmings. A FAKEWELL. A large ‘At Home’ was given as a farewell by Mr and the Misses C’arg 11. Mrs Mills looked very well in a stylish costume of black silk, the bodice being made of Indian silk with a black velvet zouave, heliotrope velvet hat ; Mrs Lindo Ferguson, stylish red and black shot velvet : black velvet sleeves and trimmings; Mrs Reid, black velvet cloak and bonnet; Miss (Jargill, grey tweed, with white waistcoat; Miss I. Cargill, neat blue serge; Mrs IL Mackenzie, black and white tweed with jacket to match, black and white hat ; Miss Wardrop, dark blue trimmed wiih narrow bands of black velvet, black hat : Miss F. Rattray, black dress with yoke and sleeves of green velvet; Miss J. Rattray, brown cashmere with sleeves of brown velvet, large brown hat; Miss F. Spence, electric blue c oth ; Miss E. Gilkison, blue serge braided with black, pink hat; Mrs Bell, brown cloth with blue and brown bonnet ; Miss R. Webster, checked tweed with sleeves and yoke of grey velvet braided with black; the Misses Roberts, dark blue dresses braided wit h black.
