Miss Peggy Ford is a young Wairarapa contralto, and a protegee of Miss Tiosina Buclcman, who heard the Ken- Zealand girl sing at the New South Wales Conservatorium, where she lias been a pupil for the past two years. Dame Clara Butt also heard Miss Ford, and predicted a successful career for her abroad. As the result of encouragement from Miss Buclcman, a strong committee was formed quite recently in the Wairarapa for the purpose of sending Miss Ford to England, and it is Imped, as the outcome of their efforts, that she will, leave for the Old Country .some time this year. While at the Sydney Ccnservatcrium, Miss Ford carried off the Italian Scholarship, and also distinguished herself by completing a two years' course in her first year of study. Miss Ford is to go Home to Mr. and Mrs. Maurice D'Oisly (Miss Buclcman), both of whom arc most enthusiastic on her behalf.
