Mrs. Bower, who will be remembered by her nursing contemporaries at the Wellington Hospital, as Nurse Mary Newall, visited New Zealand with her husband and little daughter this year and renewed old friendships. Her home is near Durban. * * * * English notes bring news of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Burberry who, when the mail left, were still enjoying a prolonged honeymoon m Egypt, and intended later settling down at Ascot. Mrs. Burberry was Miss Elsie Seton who completed her training on the staff of the Wellington District Hospital. * * * * Nurse Lind and Nurse Hitchcock, after graduating at the Rotunda, Dublin, left that fascinating — if dirty — city with many regrets, and have been since kept very busy private nursing m and about London. Their last letters were from Jersey, where together they were enjoying a holiday m perfect weather. They had seen Miss Laura James several times, the Military Hospital to which she is attached being quite near London. * * * * Miss Doherty, late matron of the Palmerston Hospital, returned some weeks ago after an enjoyable visit to Great Britain. •t* *P t* *n Nurse Wakelin, formerly of Greytown North, and more recently on duty at the Whakaoranga Private Hospital, Carterton decided to leave that town on a prolonged holiday for the benefit of her health, and before her departure was entertained at a farewell social by a number of her friends. * * * * The Misses Hayes, who were popular members at the Nurses' Club, Kensington Street, left for their home m Gloucestershire by the Cyramic. Miss Elsie Hayes is to be married on their arrival at Home.

Miss Laura Grave resigned from the Association owing to her approaching marriage. Miss Bull also resigned from the Club to be married ; and another nurse contemplating marriage is Miss Kirkham, until lately one of the district nurses. * * * * Nurse Morris has resigned from her position on the staff of the Kensington Street Hospital. Her marriage with Mr. A. She has gone to Melbourne to stay with her sister there, and writes en route from Sydney that she had a beautiful trip over. % sfc % % Nurse Muriel Bartlet, with her sister Mrs. Tolhurst, and baby, were also passengers on the boat. *F *l* V ■•■ Miss Bagley, of the Public Health and Hospitals Department, has been granted a month's leave and intends to spend her holiday m Sydney. She left Auckland shortly after Easter. ■H I|C «JC SJC Nurse Blackie, of Dunedin Hospital, and Native Health Nurse m the Canterbury district, has recently been transferred to the Bay of Plenty district.

At the meeting of the Ashburton Hospital Board last week, Miss S. E. Morley, the matron, who is about to pay a visit to England, and also to Monte Video, was granted six months 5 leave of absence. During her visit to the Old Land, Miss Morley purposes making a special point of visiting a number of the large hospitals. * # * * Sister Tucker has been appointed actingmatron during Miss Morley's absence. ♦ =k % Sister Muir, of the nursing staff of the Christchurch Hospital, has been granted twelve months' leave of absence that she may visit Aust. alia and probably the Old Country. # * * * Nurse Stuart, of Picton, has unfortunately broken her arm. She slipped and fell whea about to attend to a patient. We hear she is removing from Picton and closing her private maternity home. * * * * Nurse M. Walsh, a Victorian, nurse well kuown m New Zealand, is now matron of Braidwood Hospital m New South Wales. SjS Sfi SjJ JjC Nurse Goldsmith's many friends will be pleased to hear that she has recovered from her severe illness. She had a bad attack of appendicitis and had to undtrgo an operation. She is now at Lake Waikare Moana to recuperate ; and will have to take a long holiday from nursing. * * * ♦ Miss Higgins, matron of Quamby, and Miss Higgins, her sister, matron of Jubilee Home, are at present visiting the Old Country. * * * * Miss Ewart, formerly matron of the Christchurch Hospital, is at present m charge of Jubilee Home. * * # * Nurse E. B. Reid has returned from an extended visit to Scotland, and intends taking up private numng. * $ $ $ Miss Beiry writos that she thinks of returning to New Zealand during the year. She had paid a visit to the Isle of Man m the summer which she much enjoyed.

Aid Board and is to be largely extended, so as to carry on the work and care of patients for the necessary time after discharge from hospital. 9|t I|C 9|C 9|C Miss Laura Mason writes that she is very pleased with her little hospital at Tauranga. The patients were very sorry to lose Sister, and presented her with a jewel casket at a euchre party held to bid her farewell. * * * * * * Miss C. Fullarton is now private nursing m San Francisco. She may be returning to the Dominion next year.

Nurse Isobel Milne writes from Talbagh, Lucknow, India, that the Hospital m which she is to work is not yet finished a;nd she is studyirg the language at the School of Languages for four months m the meantime. She adds that m January the Viceroy opened the Medical College m Lucknow, a a beautiful building and most up-to-date m every way. Nurse Milne's address will be Jagadhii, Amballa District, Punjab; and wishes the journal sent to her. % * h= Miss Nina Black, matron of Coromandel Hospital, has just bad her annual leave, and writes that she spent a most enjoyable holiday reneM^ing old friendships of nursing days. She spent a delightful afternoon with her old matron, Miss Stewart, m Auckland. Miss Black spent a good deal of her time motoring, which was a great treat, as there are no cars m Coromandel and everyone must walk.
