The members of the Star Cricket Club have every reason to congratulate themselves on having won the Junior Championship, more especially when we remember that last season was its first as a junior team. The first eleven played seven cup matches, winning six and losing one. In all matches the record is equally good Matches played, 14; won, 12; lost, 2. That the team was strong in batting is proved from the fact that in twelve innings it scored 11 - 60 runs, as against 720 scored in thirteen innings by its various opponents. The captain (Mr. A. Howe) is an indefatigable worker, and not a little of the team’s success is due to his unflagging interest, coupled with his good cricket. Mr. H. Page wins the trophy for the highest individual score, 72, against the Wellington College team ; Mr. A. Lucena wins the captain’s trophy for highest bat ting average, having scored 164 runs in twelve innings, or an average of 18'4. The bowling trophy fell to Mr. F. Warren, who took 64 wickets at a cost of 265 runs, being an average of 4*l ruus per wicket. The fielding trophy was awarded, by the vote of the players, to Mr. A. S. Green, who was always on the alert at point. There is some talk of the club entering a team for the Senior Championship next season.
