Stolen, from the dwelling of Thomas Prendergast, on Wakanui run, Ashburton, on the 9th February, 1874, two £1 notes, numbers and bank unknown. Timothy Thompson, alias Tobin, Irish, 30 years, sft. sin., florid sunburnt complexion, reddish hair, whiskers, beard, and moustache, slight build, dressed in dark coat and hat, moleskin trousers, carries a light-coloured swag, a labourer, still in Ashburton, is suspected.

Stolen, from the person of Mrs. Flashborne, at Ick’s sale-yards, on the 21st February, 1874, a brown leather purse, containing a £1 note, half a sovereign, some silver, and a sixpenny stamp. Purse identifiable.

The undermentioned men are charged on warrant, filed in Commissioner’s office, with desertion from the ship Isles of the South , on the night of the 19th February, 1874, in Lyttelton Harbour. Captain Le Coutour offers £3 for the arrest of each man. James Bruce, nearly 6ft., fair complexion, light moustache and beard, no whiskers. John Mulvenna, Irish, but resembles a Norwegian or Dane, sft. 6in., fair complexion, reddish beard. William Bretzmann, a Foreigner, sft. 4in., stout and w r ell built, clean shaved, dark complexion. John D°dd, apprentice, dark complexion, a 1 and well made, no beard, slight moustache.
