Amendment proposed —That the Salary of Post Master General be retained on the Estimates at the rate of £100 per annum.—{Mr. Fitzgerald.) Amendment negatived. Further amendment proposed—That all the words of the original motion be omitted with a view to insert the following : —that it be a recommendation from this Committee to the House, that the House should address the Officer administering the Government for the purpose of respectfully apprising His Excellency that the sum named in the Estimates, for the Salary of the Post Master General, is voted in the confident reliance of the House that the office will immediately cease to be a sinecure, and become one of laborious efficiency towards the important objects for which it exists.—(Mr. Il'alcejield.)
