Now that there is an early prospect of Mr. Baker being able to take up his appointment and give the fullest expression to the capabilities of the instrument, the Management Committee stresses the advisability of reopening the tower to the admission of the public. This will necessitate the appointment of a permanent caretaker and also the replacement of the present " ladders " giving access to the higher chambers by the provision of proper stairways. Ernest E.
