ORDERS OF REFERENCE Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives Wednesday, the 16th Day op July, 1947 Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting on nine members, to consider all matters in connection with defence which may be referred to it; the Committee to consist of Mr. Anderton, Mr. Fortune, Mr. R. Macdonald, Mr. T. L. Macdonald, Mr. Macfarlane, Mr. Osborne, Mr. Roy, Mr. Sim, and the Mover."—(Hon. Mr. Nordmeyer, for the Hon. Mr. Jones.) Ordered, " That all petitions not finally dealt with during the session of 1946 be again referred to the same Committees as they were referred to during the said session." —(Right Hon. Mr. Fraser.) Thursday, the 9th Day of October, 1947 Ordered, " That the report of the Defence Committee on the petition of J. Shortal be referred back to the Committee for further consideration."—(Mr. Hanan.) Thursday, the 20th Day of November, 1947 Ordered, " That the Patriotic and Canteen Funds Bill be referred to the Defence Comfliittee."— (Hon. Mr. Parry.) REPORTS No. 52.—Petition of G. J. Franklin, of 39 Burke Street, Palmerston North Praying for compensation for injury sustained during service in the Armed Forces, I have the honour to report that the Defence Committee has carefully considered this petition, and recommends that it be referred to the Government for consideration. 3rd September, 1947.
